The first DIY project on this blog has been inspired by a Nasty Gal skirt I recently fell in love with. I liked the idea of having a pattern made up of little illustrations, but wanted to mix it up. Instead, I’m getting inspired by a love of street art and a love of Berlin. I’ll be using images of stencil graffiti in one of the most beautiful cities in the world to create a totally unique pattern on a thrift store buy. All you’ll need is a printer, an X-Acto knife, a white skirt, and some black fabric spray paint. The finished product will be urban and artsy. Stay tuned within the next week to see it uploaded with full instructions.
Along with the heat of summer comes ,inevitably, a huge shift in fashion. You want the shortest shorts possible and the lightest fabrics to cool you down. But you also want to stand out of the short short wearing masses. What is great about shorts, is that you can easily personalize them with dye, studs, and fabric to make them just a bit more edgy and a whole lot more fun. Add a cool pattern to the back pockets or one side of the front. Another great idea is to use colorful dyes or just bleach to ombre them. And if all else fails take a sharpie to your favorite pair. It is so easy and fun to personalize your shorts for the summer months and you should definitely try it. I know I will.
DIY projects are always something I think about as a blogger, but I never really get to them. They always end up being a second thought. But soon I’m going to be attempting a variance of fashion related tutorials for you guys to try out. Who knows what it’ll be. I’m thinking along the lines of ombre jackets, studded shoes, flower crowns, and turbans. I’m hoping you guys will like the idea. Its nothing new or groundbreaking, but it could be fun…
So, I’m absolutely loving studded fashion right now. Especially since I’ve found some really cool DIY projects involving them. I hope to actually get on a lot of those projects this summer, you know, to do something a little more constructive with my time. And I’m really excited about it. I’m thinking possibly some studded shorts. So, tell me what you’re digging right now, I’d love to know! And also let me know if you have any cool DIY projects for me to try.
