One of my favorite recent trends is the slip dress. They’ve made appearances on numerous runways and are in stores everywhere. These beauties are great paired with a leather jacket and chunky platforms. This is an easy trend to rock. Whether in a pattern or bold color, slip dresses offer a daring look. Their simplicity is paired with exquisite detail; sheer overlay, embroidery, and lace applique give a feminine touch. These dresses are the perfect combination of sweet and sultry. They would be a great addition to any wardrobe.
The first DIY project on this blog has been inspired by a Nasty Gal skirt I recently fell in love with. I liked the idea of having a pattern made up of little illustrations, but wanted to mix it up. Instead, I’m getting inspired by a love of street art and a love of Berlin. I’ll be using images of stencil graffiti in one of the most beautiful cities in the world to create a totally unique pattern on a thrift store buy. All you’ll need is a printer, an X-Acto knife, a white skirt, and some black fabric spray paint. The finished product will be urban and artsy. Stay tuned within the next week to see it uploaded with full instructions.
Get excited for Nasty Gal’s new shoe line. Nasty gal has always offered the best in fashion (especially shoes). They have sold Jeffrey Campbell, a cult favorite, along with some other pretty awesome brands. The Cult, is a new line of shoes designed and made exclusively by Nasty Gal. They have taken the best aspects of their clothing line and put them into shoes. There are cut outs, metallics, hardware, everything a Nasty Gal would want in a pair of shoes.
Here are some of my favorites from the line:
Crop tops have been blowing up lately. The past couple seasons they have become a huge trend and a huge staple in tons of closets. You can wear them to show off your whole belly or you can go for a more modest approach and pair them with high waisted bottoms. I prefer to go the high waisted route that shows just a bit of midriff, because it’s generally more flattering. I’m absolutely loving crop tops right now. I can’t get enough. But what about you guys, how are you enjoying this trend?
Get into caged fashion that’s been all over the runways. This trend is hard, edgy, and unique. It’s a great way to show some skin, although its still pretty chilly where I am. To dress up a cut out shirt or dress for the weather just add a fabulous fur coat if you are daring enough. If you are really into the trend, you can always find some cage cut out pieces on Nasty Gal.
Soooo. This is awkward. This post was meant for election day, but WordPress was being mean. For some reason, two days straight it wasn’t working. Was this the case with anyone else? Anyway…
America is beautiful. America is free. I am so blessed to live in a country like my own. And no matter who you vote for election day we are all Americans. I think that’s something a lot of us have lost: that bond between us. So get inspired by red, white, and blue and go for great patterned stars and stripes to show off your patriotism this season.
I’m loving black right now. Black on black. You know how a ton of people say that black is boring and too plain? Well, I’m not one of those people. To me black is a way to change it up. I love a girl who can rock an edgy look, and black is definitely the way to go if you want to look the part. So try something a bit new and go black. Here are some of my favorite pieces below. But tell me, what’s your go-to color?
